Grok 4 and Grok Imagine are expected to collaborate
In fact, Musk had expressed his intention to establish an AI game studio as early as November 2024, claiming to "make games great again." He criticized many game studios being controlled by large companies, resulting in limited quality. At the same time, in February this year, Musk was recruiting talents for xAI’s game department, targeting engineers and designers who can develop games “from first principles” to train Grok’s capabilities in game design, storytelling, and graphics generation.

Although Musk and the xAI game team have not yet revealed more information about the game, it is expected that the game will be completely generated by AI, including story, graphics and mechanics. Currently, xAI already holds two trump cards. One is the AI model Grok 4, and the other is Grok Imagine. The combination of the two may significantly reduce and shorten the cost and iteration time of game development.
Next step: Key milestones in 2026
It is currently speculated that xAI’s first game may take a role-playing route, echoing Musk’s previously publicly shown interest in “Diablo IV”. However, it does not rule out that xAI will choose a wider range of themes to test the stability of AI generation technology under the influx of a large number of players.
No matter what the outcome is, Musk’s AI-generated game plan undoubtedly brings new imagination space to the game industry. Whether AI can bring new power and innovation to game content production deserves our continued attention.
