Payment giant Stripe announced the launch of more than 100,000 products at a time during the annual product display event "Stripe Tour New York" held in New York on September 30. 40 new products and functions cover stablecoin issuance, agency commerce, payment processing, revenue management and embedded finance, demonstrating its ambition to promote digital economic innovation.

Stablecoins and agency business: the two major focuses of Stripe’s upgrade

Open issuance of stablecoins allows companies to easily create customized financial ecosystems

In this upgrade, Stripe emphasized two core highlights. One is the launch of the "Open Issuance" platform through the stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge acquired earlier this year, which completely simplifies the process of companies issuing and managing stablecoins.

Officially, through this platform, companies can create and manage their own stablecoins with just a few lines of code. Companies can freely mint and destroy stablecoins, and flexibly adjust the reserve ratio of cash and treasury bonds. They can choose partners such as BlackRock, Fidelity Investments and Superstate to manage reserve funds, while the cash is held by Lead Bank to ensure liquidity.

At the same time, in order to improve liquidity, all stablecoins issued through the open issuance platform are fully interoperable, and Bridge's orchestration API supports low-cost conversion of these stablecoins with other stablecoins. Companies can also receive rewards through stablecoin issuance and use the proceeds to incentivize customers and create a more attractive business model.

In addition, Stripe has also launched a series of stablecoin-related updates, including the ability for businesses to accept stablecoin subscription payments, US businesses’ financial accounts can now hold stablecoin balances, convert between fiat currencies, use locally issued cards to pay for stablecoins, and support cross-border transfers of stablecoins to crypto wallets.

Agency Commerce Protocol (ACP) and AI Monetization Tools

The second highlight is the "Agency Commerce Protocol" (ACP) jointly released by Stripe and OpenAI. This is an open standard designed for the AI era and has been applied to ChatGPT's instant checkout function.

Officially, ACP has established a common language for merchants and AI agents. Through a single integration, merchants can let AI agents sell on their behalf while retaining complete control over the brand, product catalog, fulfillment and customer relationships. As an open standard, ACP works with all types of AI agents, even if businesses don’t use Stripe to process payments. At the same time, to further support AI companies, Stripe also launched new tools to assist product monetization.

Other important updates: Comprehensive improvements to payments and financial services

In addition to stablecoins and agency commerce, Stripe has launched multiple upgrades to further optimize its payments, revenue management and embedded financial tools, such as:

  • App-to-web payment process: Businesses can seamlessly direct iOS app customers to Stripe Checkout’s mobile checkout page, allowing businesses such as Superwall, Voodoo, Replit and others to save up to 90% payment costs.
  • Link wallet supports BNPL: Stripe’s express checkout wallet Link now supports Klarna’s buy now, pay later (BNPL) feature.
  • Hosted Payments Solution: Businesses can use Stripe Managed Payments to make one-time payments, with Stripe managing global tax, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution.
  • Global tax support expansion: Stripe Tax will support tax collection for physical goods in 102 countries next year.
  • Stripe Reader S710: New hardware supports mobile data connections to process on-site payments without WiFi.
  • AI platform integration: AI platforms such as Vercel and Replit can be embedded in the Stripe sandbox, allowing developers to manage payments and financial services without leaving the platform.
