The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance (Binance) officially launched "Binance Junior" on December 3, which is designed for 6 to 6 people. Cryptocurrency app designed for 17-year-olds and teens with full parental control. Officials stated that the goal of this product is to allow parents to lead their children to understand cryptocurrency, develop savings habits, and learn digital financial knowledge in a highly secure environment. The app is currently available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in some countries, and has been included in Binance’s “Home Finance Plan”.
A look at the main functions of Binance Junior
Binance stated that Binance Junior emphasizes "education first, safety first", and the following are its core functions:
- Age-specific dual mode: 6-12 years old is "Minor Mode", which can only check balances and study; 13-17 years old can initiate small transfers, but requires parental approval.
- Low-risk savings: Children can put cryptocurrencies into "Binance Flexible Simple Earn" to earn stable interest. The platform completely disables spot, leverage and derivatives transactions.
- Parents have full control: Parents can open a sub-account for their children by scanning the QR Code from the main account that has completed KYC. All withdrawals and transfers will receive real-time push notifications, and the account can be frozen at any time.
- Education-first design: Built-in interactive children's picture book and simplified interface, teaching from private keys, wallets to blockchain concepts in a simple way.
- Micropayment feature: Teenagers over the age of 13 can use Binance Pay to transfer money to friends or parents, but there is a daily limit.
Regarding the launch of Binance Junior, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) also commented on the evening of December 3, saying:
This is also important in the worst case scenario. Don’t let your crypto assets get stuck in an address your children can never access.
Protect your children.

Community evaluations are polarizing
However, despite Binance's good intentions, the product still aroused doubts from the crypto community after it was launched. Some people worry that allowing minors to come into contact with cryptocurrency too early may not be conducive to their healthy growth. After all, the dark side of the currency circle will infinitely magnify the shortcomings of human nature. Others say that this may also bring greater regulatory risks to Binance. For example, currently mainstream exchanges such as Coinbase and Gemini still expressly prohibit users under the age of 18 from opening accounts.
However, some people say that Binance Junior, on the other hand, is also helping adults plan their own inheritance: if they die one day, their children will have already learned how to handle and inherit their crypto inheritance.
How to get started?
- Parents must have a Binance main account that has completed KYC and 2FA
- Download "Binance Junior" on the App Store or Google Play
- Scan the QR Code to quickly open a supervised sub-account for your children (the actual available regions will be subject to the App Store display)
